1. first, go to setting
2. Then click on update and security
3. On the left-hand side, you get an option "Windows update" click on it
4. Now click on View installed update history.
5. Look for the windows update which Fails to install
6. Now select the derives and right click on it, Here you get the option to update it.

Rename software distribution folder

To solve the error by this method just follow the below process

First of all, go to the start menu and search for CMD, Open it.

Now type the following CMD one by one in it

1. net stop wuauserv
2. net stop cryptSvc
3. net stop bits
4. net stop msiserver

After doing this now enter the following CMD one by one to rename the software distrubution folder

1. ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old
2. ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old

Now after that enter the follow CMD

1. net start wuauserv
2. net start cryptSvc
3. net start bits
4. net start msiserver
